You have to do more advertising to make Storj even more known. I live in Germany and here in my region where the VW factory is very close to me, no one knows Storj. A lot of companies are based here, including foreign ones. I drive a lot, so I could easily imagine sticking a sticker on my car.

Storj Select has no future for us small SNOs if the public network is to grow.

Guys, we have to do something.

Please stop spamming all threads with expressions of your discontent about not getting paid in fiat money. You accepted this when you decided to start running a node. There are no plans to switch away from paying SNOs in our utility token STORJ.

Well, you can see it so:
You are buying T-Shirt or shoes from companies like Adidas or puma or someone else. They put their logo on the clothes.
Neu you bought (gave them money) and are doing advertising for free for them. (If you would see it right, you even paid them to make ads for them)

Now here:
StorJ is giving you money. You like the project, so you buy anything with their logo on it. So you make ads for them but you still get paid for your “work” with the nodes.

What StorJ could also make is, that if you earn over a threshold in a year, for example if you earn 1000 USD in one year, they reach out to you and give you a free T-shirt. (That would be really cool)

Since we are going way off topic…

I refuse to buy/use products with prominent logos of their marketers, especially clothing/footwear/hats, for the exact reasons you described. I already gave them money. I don’t want to also advertise for them for free. (Nor would i do it for any amount of money, let alone free).

Inconspicuous low contrast small letters or a logo on the tag inside is fine with me.

Heck, I even unglue manufacturer badges from my cars. Honda does not pay me extra for parading their logo around the town, so I don’t. I find it tacky and tasteless.

So I think this is a bad analogy.

No, that would not be. The T-shirt would go straight to landfill. And this immediately devalues the efforts. I’m contributing because I want to, not for the t-shirt that will be cheaply made, I’ll-fitting, and force me to shove unsolicited ads to my friends faces.

Well that’s personal opinion. You can always reject something that you don’t want. So if the T-shirt never gets send to you, it won’t go to landfill.

Ps: the only off topic discussion here is the StorJ Token discussion

however, sometimes it also showing to everyone, that you know what’s to choose to wear on (sometimes it’s a non-verbal signal to someone), the similar to what you are using an iPhone, which, ohh no, have a bright logo, which is always visible, or, sometimes also lighted…

Well, yes; my signal is — “you don’t get to immediately know what I wear, and I don’t feel the need to broadcast my choices, and said choices don’t define me as a person”

Or, perhaps, it’s best not to signal “I need peer validation/in a full blown identity crisis/can’t develop personal style; so I have to rely on prominent logos as a crutch and as a coping mechanism” in the first place

See, there are no positive reasons to display _other_ companies logos you are not paid and agreed to promote.

That said, I do wear a baseball cap with a logo of a local nonprofit whose work I believe in and support — in this case this is a conscious choice to broadcast it. I’m not talking about such cases.

Bright lighted logo? Have you seen an iPhone lately? 🙂 the logo is not only subtle — it’s an area of unfrosted glass on the back, but also it’s always covered by your hand when you use it, or is entirely hidden in the pocket. (I think you are confusing it with early Mac’s that experimented with using display backlight to light up the translucent logo — but that’s no longer the case since forever either. iPhones logo never lighted up). But it’s a bad example still — iPhones are recognizable anyway by overall industrial design — not unlike cars!

iPhone actually is an example of inconspicuous low contrast logos that is not visible under normal use I was referring to — even though it’s still quite obvious it’s an iPhone even without any logos. T-shirt, on the other hand, has no business displaying vendors logo or using the wearer into a a walking billboard.

Either way, I don’t really have a choice what smartphone to use, I despise anndroid (been there, on the inside, long story, and windows phone is dead) and I did not pick it for the logo. With t-shirts choice is massive.

Or look at nec/eizo/apple/LG Ultrafine displays for example. Where is logo? On the back, facing the wall. (The one on the front on NEC and Eizo is subtly printed and is removable with solvent — ask me how I know). Look at Dell/Acer/Benq/Aorus/what have you displays. Where is their embossed/textured/sometimes backlit logo? On the front bezel. Guess what displays I refuse to buy and don’t own?

Id wear a silly contraceptive-esk joke shirt about data security. Id prolly also wear one that might attract customers. I do wonder how many people who can make this choice for their company would research something they saw on a shirt or bumper sticker tho.

No, I’m not an Apple fan, so do not follow them, however, I do like apples (fruits, very). I do not like when someone is dictate how I should use my device, so - Android. But I heard that on iPhone you would get most of useful features and they would help you and not limit. I do not know, the desire to test iPhone is still absent 🙂
This is just a matter of choice.
