6TB node with 985GB of trash
I’ll add that the data trashed is younger than a year. I have the same trash on old nodes and on the 1 year old one.
I don’t need to know numbers: but have the BF’s over the last few days hit you hard too? It sounds like other SNOs have seen 30TB disappear…
some 10-20 tb from useful data amount. I use 1.146 it dont give me exact numbers of useful data any more. So I use reported back average. But it lagging behind from middle of the month.
I hope every day that people finally get it and more customers come to Storj. I read today that Western Digital and Seagate have sold almost all of their stock, and the prices for hard drives continue to rise.
Here’s a great visualization. You see the initial drop of Stored Customer Data… then over the next few days multiple sets of bloom filters got generated and run… and eventually that trash has aged for 7 days and finally gets deleted/compacted from the nodes (and Free Reported Space goes back up).
Looks like it took 10-12 days from when the satellites recorded that huge deletion… to when nodes got that disk space back. Cool! ![]()
It looks like another large drop is coming: customers have deleted we’re just waiting for the BFs to start nuking stuff…
It could be also missing data. I would ask the team to check.
Node metrics now showing the dip as well. So it seems to be real.
It is real. The second major deletion this month. For me, 2TB incoming/node and 2.5TB lost in March.
Data goes up, data goes down. Seems pretty normal to me
They way the new node hides trash-within-used-space changes things. But I think SNOs will have lost up to 10% of their used-space by ten days from now. (time for BF, time for trash, time to start compacting trash)
That’s just a reading of the tea leaves
