I think most “pro” users on this forum already have a couple of small vetted nodes in reserve.
And if you don’t, you should.

A sudden demand would get distributed over the whole network. Paying or standard vetting will give you the same share. Since you also already have other nodes that receive their share of ingress or demand. (Demand any does not matter since the new node does not have data which could be demanded)

Isn’t it your job as an operator to start new nodes when necessary? You know how much traffic your connection can handle. You can estimate how long it takes until your nodes would be full when filled at max speed. Just start a new node if the previous one would be full within a month. Where is the problem? A sudden increase in ingress can be over as fast as it started when will come the forum posts again to ask what happend with the traffic.

This is a long game, not a getting rich fast project.
