There was no guarantee that ipfs could reliably delete the files.
Can storj reliably delete files?
The customer can delete files. The satellite will contact all the storage nodes that are holding pieces for this file and send them a delete message. The storage node will keep the pieces in a trash folder for one more week and than its gone. Worst case some storage nodes are offline during the delete operation. In that case garabge collection will delete it. It just takes a few more days but still the same outcome. The data will be gone.
