Graceful exit status

I agree, on many other levels too: graceful exit scheninigans need to be overhauled. If I need space I was temporarily sharing with storj back — I’m proverbially ‘rm -rf-ing’ the dataset, not waiting for a month for $10.

Polygon was supported earlier but discontinued due to low use.

If you use exchange address to receive, swaps are very cheap — up to 1% of the transaction amount. The only expensive thing is transaction cost sending you the money that (for now at least) storj pays.

Fun fact: If you transfer off chane between binance users, there is no fee for the transfer. Completely free.
I don’t know if other (evil /s) exchanges have this feature too

Most of them do. Same applies to swaps, trades, etc. they collect all transactions, reconcile, and submit much smaller subset to the actual network. Some swaps and trades are completely free — e.g. between USDC and USD — so many people do it both ways daily so that net difference is negligible and absorbable.

Why doesn’t STORJ just have its own liquidity pool for microtransactions rather than relying on a third party blockchain then?

At least if STORJ was its own token network with zero fees we could at least swap our STORJ with another STORJ community member directly. Just use the Proof of Disk Space like Chia is doing to back the token.

Because it’s prohibited by legal requirements. We do not participate in support of liquidity and cannot do so.
We also do not want to build and maintain an own blockchain, it’s not our goal. Our goal is distributed S3-compatible end-to-end encrypted storage with the distributed computing and the world fastest filesystem based on an object storage (the list would likely continue, stay tuned).

STORJ token is exist on L2 zkSync Era too, which as close to the microtransactions dream as possible, the transaction fee is negligible in comparison with TX fee on L1 Ethereum, we also may pay the transactional fee in STORJ (thanks to txSync).

Chia is not comparable to Storj, Storj have a real value - the customers may store and retrieve their data, use GPU and cunoFS. And Chia is a pointless mill that turns disks and electricity into speculative tokens, it doesn’t have any real value for the customers.
