Using HDD from Chia days is the biggest mistake I have done. 2+1 Nodes running quite good from the beginning. Off which one node is 14TB [Seagate Expansion]. I checked the HDD for all types of errors and defrag before starting. Now its failing, Im afraid. No errors so far, and no I/O in event viewer but there is literally no Write speed for 2 days now with high active time. Must early stages of failing. Cant afford to lose this too.
I’m thinking you need some sort of caching on your disks. I’ve found that once the disk gets a reasonable amounts of data, the number of files together with the amazingly large number of directories, that without caching the system spends more time accessing the disk trying to work out where the data is than doing anything useful. Caching means it’s checking faster storage or memory rather than using spindle time.
Well attempting for days to save 650gb of data was rather pointless to begin with - you could have gotten that in a day of test data; sorry your other hardware is choking too. Surely you noticed you got 3,200 GBs of data thrown at you in just days, and your disk only captured 650 GBs of it? It’s probably better for you that less than a 20% success rate killed it off, cuz it would have died anyway -rip that band-aid off!
Caching enabled. Still choking. Guess Im gonna decrease the storage size of the choking drives. So that it wont bottleneck more.
