BTW the whole my premise was that Th3Van is regular node operator, not Select. If he is Select – then there is no contradictions. Select is governed by different rules. We peasants will humbly keep 1 node per /24.
yes but the rent is 0£€$ each month…. or did i misunderstand something? its late and my brain is in “zombie” state
same thoughts here, my guess is that since he has only one host/machine but different ip’s he must be select .. if he is not then can he be using all those ip’s going to the same host
VPS with 24 Amphere cores is free. Few tens of GB of virtual disk space is free. Ingress traffic is free. 10TB of egress traffic is free. But any additional storage cost money. And for the node – you need a lot of additional storage to actually store data.
ahh, i stand corrected….. not worth it
so vpn or a simple router/forwarder it is…. but then i would be an arse as i would break the rules
I’m just a simple SNO - Not a select user or provider for that matter ![]()
Th3Van.dk
I am using the oracle free tier for some years now. One node never hit the 10 TB limit. Unfortunately the service was a bit unreliable in recent month, online score is only about 95% for those nodes.
BTW:
If you never make your test account a paid one they will never charge you.
dare i ask what approx amount you get robbed for each ip? ok if you wont tell
bummer…. started to sound like an idea… or at least something i could think more about
Well, not really - you’re a pretty sophisticated SNO. ![]()
Are you the largest SNO you’re aware of? Or once you get over 500TB used-space did you get to join some secret-society and you met all the REALLY big guys?
About $40 USD per /30 segment / month.
Th3Van.dk
I don’t think so, but only the storj team would know about that ![]()

No, if you are behind cgnat it’s ok. The problem is if you use vpn to run additional nodes and circumvent /24 rule. Getting your node internet access is not a problem.
If you don’t make your account paid one — they will suspend your VPS when they think it’s idle. And wireguard sever contributes pretty much nothing to the load. Some folks runs cpu stress tests on schedule to prevent that lol. I just gave them a credit card instead.
Important
Reclamation of Idle Compute Instances
Idle Always Free compute instances may be reclaimed by Oracle. Oracle will deem virtual machine and bare metal compute instances as idle if, during a 7-day period, the following are true:
- CPU utilization for the 95th percentile is less than 20%
- Network utilization is less than 20%
- Memory utilization is less than 20% (applies to A1 shapes only)

For me they are rock solid. Both on San Jose and Phoenix datacenters. Maybe becoming a customer makes a difference?
They give you a /30 subnet or 4 IP addresses?
I get a /30 subnet (with 1 usable IP)

about 3 times as much as what my isp charges for a single ip, but then again he can/will only give me 1 ip
i’m, but the public ip i have forwards everything to the public ip of the cgnat, in effect i get out in front of the cgnat, a bit strange setup, but hey it works
in practice i will break the rule because of the setup my isp uses
Oh, sure, if they forwarded a port (all ports? very strange) to you – it’s much better.
they forward all ports (everything) that hits the ip i pay for to the ip i have internal on the cgnat, you could say they create a tunnel and in effect it does not matter anymore that i’m behind a cgnat
