But it is a technical solution they might be happy to have students spend a semester or seminars or oven write a thesis or something.
There are so many extraodinary tech university in in the US, I cannot beleive you would not find one prof who would be interested to solve some of the problems with his studends.
The solution is simple - run any consensus algorithm in the LAN, then it can be used as a distributed database⦠Or even private Storj. But itās not whatās needed, because why try to invent a wheel?
We use a distributed database CocroachDB, itās running globally already. However, we cannot run it on untrusted nodesā¦
So, if you want to have an encrypted distributed fast database running on untrusted nodes, you are out of options. No one solution is exist so far.
A post was merged into an existing topic: Distribute audits across storagenodes
Thanks for your idea!
The decentralized auditors are suggested here:
Could you please add your idea there?
Or I can move your post there.
This will not solve the problem, but may help to make the satellite being more decentralized than now.
The core problem with a distributed database would remain unsolved though, but we can move further step by step.
I think to keep the discussion structured (so that it makes sense), the best way would be for the replies to be moved there. Thank you in advance.
Please, do not hesitate to share your ideas, how to make it more decentralized!
P.S. Perhaps it will be solved itself, when we can speedup our network to be faster than a local storage. ![]()
Companies much bigger than Storj were funding this kind of research already. Any breakthrough that would allow getting rid of the consensus requirements would be worth a Turing Award.

It will not help, if itās slow. And Itās slow as now. And become slower and slower with each added node. No go.
If someone invent a consensus algorithm (or anything else), will get at least a
And all funds in the world.
