It’s not a good idea to include OS functions into application. We doesn’t have enough resources to make it robust as it done by dedicated teams which implements RAIDs. So, if you want - you can configure RAID and use it as a storage.
Take a look on these threads also:

But it’s a good time to learn about RAIDs As an SNO you are responsible that the data you are storing is always available, if it is not you are failing audits which will result in suspension and eventually in disqualification. In your case if there is no RAID configuration and no backup your identity is lost. You will have to create a new identity and start over. And try to …

> Hi Forum. OS: Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS CPU: Intel Celeron G3930 2.9GHz 2-Core RAM: 16GB DDR4 Boot Drive: mSATA 120GB WAN Connection: 2000mbps (Fiberoptics) LAN Connection: 2000mbps (Port Bundling) So, I am working on my first Storj v3 node now and for the moment I only have 2x NEW 1TB WDC Black 7200RPM drives available for the build. (Plan on moving to a bigger system when up and running). The drives are NEW and have less than 50 hours of running time each - I plan on migrating to a bigger sys…

The RAID, mail server, Telegram client, S.M.A.R.T. checker, etc. will not be part of the storagenode binary.
All those functions are implemented as an external services for the reason.
The storagenode binary should be small and effective to be able to run on small SOC systems like Raspberry Pi or even router: [Running node on OpenWRT router?](https://forum.storj.io/t/running-node-on-openwrt-router/8283)

Already implemented

> How to move DB’s to SSD on Docker Before you beginning, please make sure that your SSD has good endurance (MLC is preferred), I personally recommend using SSD mirror. look into the [official documentation](https://documentation.storj.io/setup/cli/storage-node) and make sure that you are using –mount type=bind parameter in your docker run string Prepare a folder with mounted SSD outside of \<storage-dir\> from the official documentation. (it your folder with pieces) Add a new mont string to your docker run string: Now we have: docker run -d --restar…
