Move databases on Windows storagenode

Hi guys.
So, I troubleshooted a lot on one of my nodes, and disk activity is always at 100%. The HDD just can´t keep up with the demand (:P) it´s a WD Blue but it gets almost occupied writing in databases.
Can I move the databases to my quicker system drive?
If so, how?

Yes, you can.

  1. Stop the storagenode
  2. Move databases to a new place (C:\storagenode\cache\ for example)
  3. Add a new path to databases to the storage2.database-dir: option:
storage2.database-dir: C:\storagenode\cache\
  1. Save the config
  2. Start the storagenode
  3. Check that you do not have a new databases in a old place and the dashboard shows a correct numbers.

However, keep in mind - you will introduce a new point of failure.

Huge improvement on Dashboard loading, and it seems a few less “context cancelled”.
I’ll keep monitoring it. Thank you.

Hi, @everybody, (its popular tag on social media lately, lol)

And how that’s working out for You all who decided to do it, after 3 years?
Please commet, Are You overall happy with moving data to SSD?
Pros better than cons?
Is is the Way to go even if no problem,(but can be if node of 8-20TB will be full?)
Also what ssd You recommand for a database keeping?
(as for HDDs, best shot are probbaly Ultrastar HDD’s, if one can afford that, what’s SSD equivalent of that brand?)
Thanks for sharing in advance!

Hi, definitly yes.

Dashboard loads instantly, and I have no more “failed to add bandwidth usage” Errors (had a lot)
