New Minimum Usage Fee Starting July 1

It’s not that the situation is desperate, it’s the fact that storj always acts as if the sky will fall on our heads in the next couple of hours.

In the end, they always wait up to the absolute last minute to act, giving the impression that it’s either this change or the world will end. It’s a very effective strategy to get everyone to agree with a change, even if they are strongly against it.

Exhibits:
Exhibit 1: The adjustment of SNO payouts: It’s either this or the company will run out of money, even though the SNO payments were 5% of the total expenditure (sub-Exhibit 1A: Sept. 22 report).
Exhibit 2: The deletion of Saltlake data: Again, it’s either this or we will run out of space on the network, even though the SNOs proved that they can (and always have) added space at a multiple of what storj is getting filled. (sub-Exhibit 2A: my own analysis that even if only the top 100 SNOs adding space, that would be a 2PB per month addition to the network, something that storj has never exceeded).
Exhibit 3: The change in free-tier accounts. Again, it’s either this or Ragnarok. Customers were told with a month’s notice (hm…this is now officially a pattern, thrice is a pattern) that we can no longer support doing business with you, cya around.

I could go on, but I have other things to do with my life.
