New Minimum Usage Fee Starting July 1

Paying for something that I don’t use is something I don’t like. I am just a sn too, but I like prepaid more. Just say, that if your account gets negative a minimum of like 5 or 10 USD will be charged. Then use it up until the account gets negative again. It’s like they want to throw away anyone who isn’t big. And this will prohibited testing and implementing their services (I think)

Companies at certain size are fine with throwing those 5 dollars for testing, not a problem. Tons of places that have >5 digit bills on cloud already. Where I work now, we routinely spend thousands of dollars on “testing” a single idea. If anything, this might be a procedural blocker getting a new expense approved.

Yes, big companies but not small ones. If I say, yeah we have to throw away money to test something, they for sure would say no

Would have to be very small to have a problem with five dollars. A developer would spend more in costs of their work time advocating for testing Storj than on the test itself.

I don’t know why we’re talking about testing: Storj still gives anyone a month free to try things out. And if you have a meeting with them and describe your needs they’re likely to throw whatever extra credits are needed at you to make you a customer.

Companies looking for an affordable S3 provider get a free month, and probably extra credits for a proof-of-concept, and have to pay at least $5/month after that? That won’t stop a single eval: they won’t even bat an eye.

feel free to close your account

Yeah…
To close account - need to delete buckets.
To delete buckets - oh no, you can’t do that from web because “Access Denied”.
You cant delete buckets even from CLI cause “permissions denied”.
You cant even recreate access key (as a possible solution) for cli - guess what? “Access Denied”.

Guys… feel free to charge account without card… and FU with your logic.

I’m just another 1$ month usage user that will delete it’s account if the new policy dosen’t change.
Until now I’ve made a 1 year usage top-up with storj token and never need to contact the support, are you telling me that you loose money having me as a customer??

I understand that setting the minimum Storj service price at $5 per month may be a necessary business decision, and the price itself is not unreasonable.
However, what feels disappointing is the complete lack of prior communication or community engagement about this change.
While I can’t speak for others, I personally have always seen this forum as a valuable space for transparency and open discussion.
Even a short notice or a chance to offer feedback would have gone a long way in maintaining trust and a sense of inclusion.
I hope future changes, especially those affecting users directly, will be shared and discussed here beforehand.

Sounds like a free tier frozen account. Then you do not need to do anything - it will be eventually deleted, however without any guaranteed ETA (the satellite deletes segments, and then - empty accounts, not the reverse).
