Indeed, makes sense that they would benefit from better egress.

Though, [AWS is a “strategic partner and investor” of Huggingface](https://huggingface.co/blog/the-partnership-amazon-sagemaker-and-hugging-face). Not saying this blocks the idea altogether, but it may turn out that egress is effectively sponsored for Huggingface by AWS. I know that AWS gives pretty big discounts to just large customer even with no special relations, for example, it’s absolutely natural to get 30-50% discounts on EC2 this way. On top of that, look at [their own pricing](https://huggingface.co/pricing): their largest repository offer is 8 USD/TB/month for storage with included 8× egress—that’s less than they’d be paying Storj for the same.

If I were them, I’d probably turn their download client into a bittorrent client instead 😁 Curiously, AWS S3 used to offer bittorrent protocol for downloads. The [API is still there](https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonS3/latest/API/API_GetObjectTorrent.html), even if it is [deprecated](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=27524549) or killed for a long time anyway.
