Rightsizing Storj Network Payout Rates

I meant some of the held back amount, not full. Right now the choice from node operator perspective is this:

  1. Full GE - takes 30 days, may fail and I get paid nothing, but if it does not fail, I get paid the held amount.
  2. Fast GE - takes a few days, I get paid nothing
  3. Shut down without GE - immediate, I get paid nothing.

From the node operator POV option 3 looks better than option 2. He’s leaving the network, he does not care if the customer data or the network itself is in danger (this applies to a node operator who wants to shut down all of his nodes).
Option 3 is worse for the network, but the only reason to choose option 2 is because Storj said “please”.

So, my proposal to make option 2 more attractive to node operators than option 3 is to pay them something for choosing it. Not as much as they would get choosing option 1 (full GE), but not zero either.
