So, its still not “one part of the drive is used only for reads and the other is used for writes”. The part with most writes will get most reads as well.

Level1Techs did a few great videos on the dual actuator drives.

If you run ZFS, you could do a Raid-Z3 setup, where only 1.5 of the drives are used. Pretty smart, and double as fast compared to regular disks.
