SSD vs. HHD electrical cost?

i am fortunate to have a rack and a few ups from other projects so adding a couple servers into the spare 20u i have available is very minimal i would probably limit it to 16 drives plus 2 for os per server just to keep things simple

This size drive will only be marginally profitable but if you have a number of them I would say NO raid. The low ingress means that running a big raid you would lose money for many months.

i think you missed half of what we were talking about was thinking about checking how various raid options effect iops

i don’t plan on using 240gb drives for anything they are used and have unknown usage given the cost of support hardware running 240gb drives for anything seems like a bad idea power and server space make it not viable for anything other than testing

I think it is a shame, I still remember when these drives were top spec.
