This error points to the storagenode service being stopped whilst the update is trying to occur. You could also rename the C:\Program Files\Storj\Storage Node\storagenode.1.78.3.exe file.

You need to stop the storagenode service. Then restart the storagenode-updater service.

I see that v1.79.4.0 file is in the storage node folder. so why is it not being installed?

The storagenode service is not stopped. Please stop the service. It cannot be upgraded until it’s stopped.

That’s just the updater not the actual node.

The updater service will restart the node, you should not restart it. Wait at least 15 minutes.

Edit - you can check the storagenode-updater.log file for progress.

F5 done. no change. dashboard still says v1.77.2. Tried restarting storagenode service. no change still v1.77.2

then updater will be able to update it
storranode 1.77.2 cant be stoped in services

You download it form github relesess:

You choose version:

You click “Assets”

and for windows GUI its usually
“storagenode_windows_amd64.msi.zip”

and You unpack it, and You double click the .msi file, its like exe.
And it will update Your storj node version.

Killed storaenode via task manager. Now waiting for auto update of version.

Task manager says storagenode service is running again butdashboard still says v1.77.2 and uptime is increasing.

Should I change the storagenode service to manual and stop the service so it gives the updater time to work?

Please show the newest entries of the storagenode-updater.log file. It could be the updater is erroring because the .zip file is already extracted. In that case you should delete any file of storagenode.version.exe in the folder. Stop the storagenode service. Let the updater run.
