Can I just say that 2 days notice for a change of this type is absolutely unacceptable.

As well as just dismissing that some users might run custom setups that this change will/could greatly affect.

To be fair if people are running highly customized deployments they should not be tagging :latest and updating willy-nilly without reading the changes to see if they are going to be affected.
