Sunsetting zkSync for Storagenode Payouts

Hi, I hope thos message finds you well.

How will the payments work? Monthly or it will take months till it reaches a certain amount?

Im using Brave Wallet. Will this be an issue?

Also, using TrueNas to host the storj. Will this be an issue?

That depends on the transaction fee. At the moment the transaction fee is low to the point that the payment should arrive every month.

Brave should work fine. You might want to withdraw your zkSync balance now since you will not get any further payouts onto your zkSync wallet. The next payout will be on Ethereum.

No issue with that.

will storage consumers (us1.storj.io) continue to be able to deposit funds from L2, or is this planned to go away as well? Trying to determine how urgently converting my L2 funds to my L1 wallet is.

I asked the team.
But I believe, that you can withdraw from L2 to any L1 address, right? If so, even if accepting via L2 would be suspended, you can withdraw to the deposit address on L1.

Thank you, I bridged half of my earnings to L1 Ill see how the market continues.

The next payout is for services already performed. You don’t get to change payment terms after I perform a service.

It also impacts GE and held amounts. Any reliable company would have given enough notice for SNOs to determine for themselves if it works for them and GE if it doesn’t.

I often agree that it is the SNO’s discretion to stay but this is bad faith on the part of Storj. I don’t understand how you can defend it

We will use this type of transaction when possible, but we may revert to layer 1 transactions (and associated minimum payout thresholds) if circumstances require.

JT also had announcement with similar warnings…

Sorry, if this communication was not clear enough. I understand that this decision can be disappointing. Hopefully just a small discomfort.

  1. Still it’s not too late to change your wallets on your nodes. Just do it quickly.

  2. Current ETH has a few tricks to pay for the gas from different wallets (paymasters or EIP-7702). Not as easy as simple transaction but technically possible.
