Unable to get sharing URL. Can not create new access grant

Hello,

I keep facing this error when trying to make a public link to any file in my bucket.

“Unable to get sharing URL. Can not create new access grant”
(Screenshot attached)

Notes:

  1. The same bucket and the same folder already has 100s of files with public links which are working fine at the moment.
  2. Cannot create new share links for any files.
  3. Cannot even create new share links for files which are already has previously created
    public share links (access grants)
  4. Tried clearing cookies, cache, and on a separate browser too. (Firefox and Brave)
  5. My OS is Linux Mint.

Any ideas why this is happening ?

Hello again,

After running a dozens of test uploads on all of my 3 buckets, and dozens of folders, I’ve found out that the system is giving above mentioned error, only if the length of the created public link is going to exceed 119 characters.

For example -
https://link.storjshare.io/s/jxdqwh4llpqwertyuiopoiq2srhq/banda/rodney-warnakula-yasa-isuru-pirunu-thanaa-lanka.lk-.zip
https://link.storjshare.io/s/jwxborcasdfghjklkoyq55kcejeq/nanda/lanka/srilanka/rodney-warnakula-yasa-isuru-pirunu-t.zip
https://link.storjshare.io/s/jufsfrmlzxcvbnmnbvcxzxc6ft4a/nayanasri/a/b/c/d/e/f/g/rodney-warnakula-yasa-isuru-pirun.zip

Note - Bucket names are edited for privacy.

All the above public links were created without any errors.
Because the length of all 3 links are only 119 characters.
See that I’ve shorten the file name at the end to compensate for the extra characters added by the folder names.
If I have added another character to the file name, it will refuse to create public link.
Links that is going to be shorter than 119 characters are not affected.

Is this a limit introduced recently ?
I’ve not uploaded new files since October, and I did not encounter this error back then.

Hello @nayanasri,
Welcome to the forum!

Thank you for figuring out, what was the reason!

Seems so, but I do not think that it was intentional. You can still create linkshare URLs longer than that, but using uplink share or rclone link.
