There will be a few more set to 0 after today (busy week at work, only managing to do it now)

So that no one wonders why there are so many nodes at the moment that have their reward set to 0 USD, I hasten to answer that 1471 nodes are from @Th3Van:

via th3van.dk

I will follow the good example of @Th3Van and others, and provide my 18 active nodes as a donation for the rest of 2026 as well.

I’ve added the following for each of of my nodes to my docker compose file:

    environment:
      - STORJ_CONTACT_SELF_SIGNED_TAGS="storage_price=0,egress_price=0,repair_price=0,audit_price=0"

@littleskunk can you confirm it’s registrered?

Confirmed. Thank you very much.

Man, as soon as you have a good ideea (you Storj devs), you quickly top it off with a bad one.

Nothing wrong with custom payout rates, I sugested it a few times in some similar form. Who wants to donate capacity to Storj Inc, should be able to.

The second ideea about using this in node selection is the badest so far comming from Storj.
Basicaly you want to blackmail us to accept less money or else we won’t get data, which basicaly will make nodes dead in 1-2 years, considering the data retention time.
I know that a few of you, who remained in the company, inharited such a disastrous situation from the previous leadeship that affects us all, and consider all kinds of tricks and gimmicks to survive, but this would be a BIG SPIT IN OUR FACES!

If we don’t accept less, we can leave, is that it?
Did you considered that we don’t run nodes on free hardware or free energy? at least I’m not….
You know I’ve invested like 10.000$ in hardware just to offer a reliable and premium storage for the network, I don’t use VPSes, I don’t run more than one node per HDD, I realy try to play as “legal” as possible according to your T&C.
And, atop of the hardware costs there are energy costs, that take like half of my payout in the present days.
And I am far from recovering my investments.
I have here hundreds, maybe thousands of posts, in which I tried to be helfpul for everyone, including the company and the service in general.
And you just try to banish me if I want my agreed upon payout, that just lowered year after year?

I’m shocked that fellow operators are considering this as a good ideea.

I will not join until node selection honors price tag. I don’t mind the money but also don’t want to help the not so nice players win.

You know what? Let’s just settle this once and for all: Rise your hand who wants to store data for free for Storj?
Let’s all transfer the data to them and leave.
The perfect Storj Global Netwok: data stored for free by a few good samariteans operators who don’t have any incentives to stat on.
Perfect world!

Why the hack should we take the blow if for so many years they ignored our voices and destroyed the company? Now they need our help once more to repay the debts they accumulated by not beeing transparent and making verry stupid decisions?

When I was a child long ago they told me in school communism will win because of… economy.

its not communism, when its voluntary.
Some rich people are willing to give some in exchange for glory i guess.
i think @snorkel please calm down, thats not even confirmed, and if so, then You can adapt, maybe set all egress to 0, and storage at 1.5, maybe You will get more data overall thanks to that, and same or bigger total payout, who knows.

I’m sorry that I spoke in anger and I realy hope you will do the right choises.
My view of the company’s success is to adopt long therm policies that attract and retain long therm clients and attract and retain long therm invested node opertors. Otherwise don’t be surpised that won’t last 10 years.

How will you help win? If node selection continues to be based solely on node speed? The only thing you’re losing is your money. But you already said you don’t care about it.

Those who try to blackmail storj with their petabytes… :money_mouth_face:

So, following your logic, you’ll blackmail storj with your petabytes if you can get them? And now you’re upset? I’m certainly not talking about cash payments, which you don’t need anyway. Blackmail can be done with many things.

No single SNO should control petabytes. Also organized groups with a speaker should be treated like single SNO.

Are you mad? Should the users of this forum be treated as a single SNO and relieved of their existing petabytes?

I have already set payouts to 0 so I guess I am raising my hand and will be storing it for free at least until end of 2026

No payout changes have been officially announced? And data placement isn’t considering any prices anyone may be broadcasting because of this thread?

People are just getting excited because of things-that-have-only-happened-in-their-head? :winking_face_with_tongue:

I fully understand the situation and the feelings boiling over now and then. It’s a strange situation for all of us - including the residents remaining at StorJ. I have great sympathy for the project and for those individuals.

I made my choice because when I started this journey with StorJ, I decided to see it through.. regardless of the outcome. We might see a blooming business in the end - and then
again.. maybe not?

My personal patriotism cheers for the project and a serious alternative to hyperscaling clouds!

At present my focus is only to see if we can make it through this Chaper 11 process we’ve inherited from various parties.

I’m also frustrated by many of the current ideas - negotiations/threats and out-of-the-box thinking in this forum - but I believe the process needs all of it.
I, like many others, do not engage or comment much, but I do read most of what is posted.. that does not mean I don’t care.

The infrastructure we all provide should not be for free - it should be taken seriously by both parties, and the responsibility should not be taken lightly.. and I expect these trades to be proportional to the size of infrastructure you provide.

I’m here for the long run, and I’m ready to pay forward my support when I believe it’s needed and put to good use. I think this is one of those times.

Node count and repair traffic telling the truth. Despite a lot of drama nothing really happened.
