# What would happen if the hdd crashes?

What are the real consequences if my hdd crashes or in general data is lost?

Your node gets disquaified and you lose the “held amount”.

You can create a new node (on a working drive), but it will have to be vetted again, then it will take a whiel to accumulate data etc.

Lol, I did answer it, the real consequence of a HDD crash or losing your data is losing the node → damage. OP is going to lose the whole node in case his drive crashes. But Pentium100 already explained it all before me anyway, so OP got his answer.
