Announcing Community Satellite Pilot Program

and again the wording of the first post, there are plenty of nodes allready running, so we dont even need 1

They can share the same node, if the SNO will add this satellite to the trusted list. So yes, it will be added as a 5th satellite to the such nodes.
However, your satellite will not be advertised to the customers, they need to know about it to create an account and configure their tools to use it.

You may not charge your customers, it’s up on you. The Storj team will not manage your satellite for you, it will be your responsibility as a Satellite Operator, just like Storj handle theirs satellites.

Satellites are separated by the Satellite Operator. These three production satellites and the Saltlake satellite are operated by Storj, but they potentially can be managed by separate companies and have an own pricing for the customers and SNOs.
So, please do not expect, that Storj will operate your satellite or attract customers and operators for you.

this is a maximum advertisement which can be done by Storj, but only for SNOs.

To me that wording sounds like community satellites are still 100% independent… however the standard Storj Node (today part of “the public storage node network”) was built so it can talk to more then just Storj Satellites: so people who want to try community satellites don’t need to install a second Node. Clever! And the fact the company will advertise community nodes on that unpaid-community-satellites URL is nice of them.

So your satellite can have its own look and feel, and users/accounts, and prices (or free, or ratio, or a combo, or whatever). If you do accept/give-out payments you can choose any coins you want: so many options!

I’d probably still install a second node, just to try your satellite, to keep things clean. Can’t wait to see it!

i will not setup a satellite, way to complicated to setup, sorry but i’m not that smart

instead i have spun up 3 real nodes and 1 test node
