Can you join a satellite later?

When you start a new node, if you untrust a satellite, or whitelist some except 1, before even start the first time, can you join that satellite later, after some weeks or months?
The strategy that I had in mind is:

  • ignore form the start the Saltlake test sat;
  • in the future, if it becomes more active or it is switched to client data, join it with vetting and all the stuff.

Even ap1 is low on data and could be ignored this way. Is it possible?
How it could be done?

Satellites operate independently, so if your node never reaches out to it, it won’t know about it and will see your node as new once you do. I see no reason why this shouldn’t work. However, be very careful to never run your node with that satellite as a trusted satellite. Connect once and you’ll be known and DQ’ed for being offline after that.
