I am running many storagenodes at the moment but i have decided to graceful exit 2 of them because they’re using small 2 TB Drives and Smart Data is getting worse everyday - yet they didn’t loose data, they were just reallocating sectors.
Both of the nodes i started the graceful exit on seemed to have done the exit without problems, all nodes and all satellites have the Percent at 100%, Successful marked with a Y and they have a Completion Receipt.
They also seemed to have stopped sending data back and fourth because Egress, Ingress and Audit show 0 Bytes for the last 3-4 days.
Yet - the nodes are still online.
What do i do now? Will i still get my payment when i just take them offline now and format the drives because they’re still full and nothing got deleted or am i supposed to wait for something to happen like for example the nodes shutdown automatically and the identity gets invalidated or something like that? I never graceful exited before so i don’t know the procedure.
I did - but it didn’t really say much about what i have to do or what Storj is doing after the graceful exit is done.
My question is still - does the node need to be online till the next payout comes even tho the graceful exit is complete because the node is technically still online or can i just shut down the nodes and format their drives?
After the graceful exit period (currently 30 days) is complete, your node will no longer be in the graceful exit stage. Either it will have succeeded (if your uptime was high enough) or it will have failed.
As long as graceful exit was successful, you will get back your held amount with the next regular payout. The “Completion Receipt” contains a signature from the satellite and is your ticket to get the payback.
No. What would be the point of completing the graceful exist if node was required to stay online?
You may want to keep their identities for a while (not the data), on the case if the earned amount wouldn’t be enough to clear a minimum payout threshold on the selected network and you would want to opt-in for zkSync Era, where this threshold is usually much less.
