The graceful exit percent complete currently sits at 0% and then changes to 100% after 30 days. It could show the percentage of 30 days that have passed
It has been sugested a lot of times. I believe this is not on their list of future changes. But dosen’t hurt to keep bringing it up. Maybe… one day…
The truth is that when you GE, you pretty much don’t matter anymore for Storj. So why should they impruve anything for quitters?
I’m not quitting yet, just retiring my usb drives and ebaying them
This would require to redo the whole thing. Earlier GE was implemented server-side, where the satellite prepared a list of nodes for the exiting node to transfer data to these nodes. The exiting node reported every moved piece, so it was possible to calculate the percentage.
Now this mechanism is disabled and only the online time (30 days specifically) with higher than 80% of the online score is used and this didn’t require to change the node’s code.
i wonder why people stops? is it because they dont see enough $$$ or because they can bother keeping the nodes up??
It sounds like a lot of people just needed the space for something else. Then it makes sense to Graceful Exit / sell the node to get some money back.
I had 6 x 18tb nodes, holding total 8tb, making $20 maybe. I sold 5 drives to get 5 x £180 - EBAY costs and hassle. I get $1000 which is 50 months earnings.
The remaining node earns $4, then $5, then $6 as it fills meaning that I lose $128 until earnings are restored at $20 after 16 months. THAT IS A PROPER GUESTIMATE.
So it makes sense for the money, but the real reason is that I can’t leave things alone
ship the node to me and its out of reach ![]()
