Graceful merge?

I find myself in the situation where I have a couple of nodes that are under-utilised, and so since a fair amount of time. Wanting to downsize my storj setup, is there a way to do a “graceful merge”? “Graceful split” is easy: just fire up a new node, and the load will get distributed. “Graceful exit” is also possible. What about “merge”?

Nope. The only way is graceful exit or just reduce free space to 0 and wait until the data gets slowly deleted by the customer / garbage collection.

It might be not in line with TOS but technically you could just move two or more nodes to a single disk. :sunglasses:

an option indeed, but trying to avoid that.

Totally not recommend it, cause it will trash the disc and both nodes will perform much more worse as it would with just one node on the disk

Storj can never allow node merging: it would be abused immediately.

I don’t think so. I had such setup in the past with no problems and with hashstore it should work even better.

Ok, I don’t know how efficient it is with hashstore. I had a Disk with 2 nodes in it too. But both node ran soo poorly. I added a second disc and moved one of the nodes. Then one single node was better than both nodes on one disk. Maybe a bad coincidence, but I have bad memories of the action.
