How to share a "folder" without showing the full path starting from the bucket name?

Hello,

Today I have shared a folder. Everything is OK. But I have noticed that one can see the whole path from the bucket name. How to share a bucket (or is it even possible) without displaying the full path starting from the bucket name ?

Example : bucketname/A/B/C/D/

I would like to share the “folder” D and I don’t want visitors to see “bucketname/A/B/C/” but only “D” in the title of the page.

Thanks.

Buckets don’t have a concept of folders or any hierarchy. They contain flat collection objects. Some objects happen to have a / in the name, that some clients can treat as path separator in their filesystem. But it’s ultimately an illusion.

OK. I understand.

Wouldn’t it be possible to mimic a standard filesystem notation (only for display purpose on the sharing page), for instance via some kind of settings ? I am just asking…

Hello @Climb65,
Welcome back!

  • You can share the whole bucket, but the client would still see path of the object (prefixes), when it will click the prefix do dive deeper.
  • You may copy a needed object to a bucket without prefixes, this would allow you to share it and only the bucket name would be in URL.
  • You may setup an own domain for the bucket and prefixes, then it would be the root object on your domain.

Hello Alexey,

Your third point sounds very good to me. I will dive deeper in it.
Thank you very much.
That solves my “problem”, even if it is not a huge problem.
