It seems the service is back up again. Will Storj Labs support it again?
Hey @jammerdan!
I am hosting it myself now, backed by the Storj Network.
This also means, that Storj Labs is not hoster/maintainer!
So no more alpha.transfer.sh? When uploading to transfer.sh this gets stored on Tardigrade?
I think that should be worth a Blog article
@jocelyn
Very nice! I will definitely use it for my next transfers of large files
Maybe https connection would be welcome?
Yes, you are correct. Files uploaded to it, are handled directly by our network.
It offers https and http. I did not had the time to figure out why the autoredirect isnt working
Very happy to see this back up and running! Will definitely use it again.
Happy to see this back as well- I use to use this to get scripts to many disjointed systems I could send wget/curl commands to (ansible playbooks), but didn’t want to go the route of parallel sftp from my system. Much easier to go tell them to all go fetch from a much faster server, or group of servers, than push it from my, comparatively, slower single system.
This even works with streaming.
@stefanbenten I hope you are going to advertise this service a lot (and don’t get bankrupt over it).
Maybe develop this further and add some WeTransfer features:
We are not responsible to develop features further
Our goal was to provide a better backend storage. From this point on should be fairly straight forward to features, eg. hand our access grants for downloads and dont have to go via the website.
Best to open an issue on their github with specific requests.
Any chance of resurrecting transfer.sh? I guess it’s shited down after decommissioning of the free tier?
you may run it, it’s open source.
Certainly, if Storj offers a FREE tier for this project. As far as I’m aware, your organization has supported certain OSS repositories and projects in the past.
Transfer.sh shutdown was completely unrelated to end of free tier and happened quite some time before. Stefan was still maintaining it for a while but he is no longer with Storj and has moved on to other projects.
I might host a version of this service on my servers, but I require a storage backend for it. It’s an invaluable service, especially for tasks like transferring medical data.
