I get 15% estimated payout drop for all of my nodes while the average disk space used seems growing? Is this a false estimation because of US1 maintenance?
I donāt think thatās it. We probably all have terabytes of trash because there hasnāt been a Bloom filter for weeks.
US1 is acting weird (again) since 2-3 days. Dashboards dont show disk usage (although traffic is running, so should be fine) and audit traffic dropped to 0. I guess they are still working on it
Itās like a month. Anyone from the leader team can update?
Thatās probably it. The Satellite knows the nodes should be holding less data (and itās only calculating payment for that lower amount)⦠it just hasnāt let nodes know what they can reclaim⦠yet.
in that case, shouldnāt we see it across all sattelites? so far only US1
Yes, all of them, but the biggest is Us1
Fellas. Stop wasting time obsessing over the dashboard.
It does not matter. We KNOW it lies. We KNOW it cannot know the truth because of how the orders are handled, races won, and trash managed.
Only satellite knows the truth. But you donāt get to see satellite dashboard. You only get to receive a payment for the past month.
That payment is the only source of truth.
So, unless your next payment is materially lower or higher ā there is nothing to do.
Even if it is materially lower or higher ā still there would be nothing to do, because itās not your problem to solve. You provide compute environment and network connectivity. This is where your responsibility ends.
So many man-hour is wasted on this unproductive nonsense ā both yours, and supports. I wasnāt joking (still am not) when suggested the dashboard to be limited solely to a green āConnectedā or red āFailedā with log snippet below.
Thatās all that matters for the SNO. Just because someone at storj decided to waste time on a dashboard pet project does not mean anyone shall be looking at it.
And yours. By now you should probably prepare a canned response to paste everywhere ![]()
Payout estimates are calculated by the storage node based on available satellite data, which is sometimes missing (youāll see gaps in the averages graph), so averaging with zero values āāproduces an inaccurate payout estimate.
Actual payouts are calculated on satellite based on orders submitted by your nodeāmeaning itās a completely different data source than the payout estimates. Ideally, if the satellite data were backfilled with missing information and your node received it, it would estimate payouts close to the actual result, but still not 100% accurately.
The problem with this data backfilling task is that itās a manual process that requires engineersā time, while this averaged data essentially has no value other than to display a pretty graph and provide a statistically incorrect payout estimate on your dashboard.
I agree with @arrogantrabbitās suggestion to ignore both, or submit a PR to backfill this data automatically on the node side - itās much cheaper than do so on the satellite due to a distributed nature of the storagenodes network.
