We’ve just experienced a snafu where data on a mounted drive was delete by a client NOT realising that deleting it there, deleted it everywhere…
Which opens up the question of backing up our backups i.e. a way of retaining a copy of all data periodically.
A couple of thoughts occurred:
Backing up using a separate Storj bucket - is there a way we can clone an existing bucket periodically, so that we have an alternate version to go back to (obviously, appreciate this multiplies the costs involved, probably significantly due to the one time bandwidth for all files + the new storage requirement)
Grabbing a zipped version of a bucket for storage elsewhere WITHOUT needing an intermediary server that has sufficient storage space available for the zip to be written to first
Anything else people can think of that can avoid this situation in the future…!
Thanks in advance!
