I recently migrated my Truenas server from Core (FreeBSD based) to Scale (Linux based) and wanted to share how this improved Storj’s responsiveness.
This is my test ping on the Storj port:
Under Core, performance was totally random, while on Scale I get a very consistent 30 msec.
My configuration has Storj installed in a Ubuntu VM with a SAS controller directly managed by the VM (PCI Passthrough).
I guess this is mostly due to KVM on Scale being a better virtualization environment than Bhyve on Core.
