you can just use your Storj Account’s STORJ token deposit address as your node payout address, so whatever you earn from your node(s) you will be able to use toward paying usage fees for storing files on our network.
This is what I do as both a node operator and a Storj customer. My usage was fairly light, just storing approx 1TB of data for backing up websites and hosting a few small projects. Was only costing me about $2/mo. Then as a node operator I set my payout address to be my STORJ token wallet for my consumer account. It worked out pretty nice, earning about $3-4/mo, more than enough to balance my current usage.
With these new changes though I’m not gonna leave money on the table just to hit an arbitrary $5 minimum. So I ramped up some of the media I had been planning on backing up but never got around to. Gets my monthly usage bill above the $5/mo min so I get my money’s worth. And although my nodes no longer cover my costs 100% they still provide a substantial “discount”.
No need to hit any minimum if you use STORJ as your payment method. Please read the latest update on the minimum fee thread.
Just saw that not long after I posted, very glad to hear Storj made that change.
