My post was flagged?

Lol! My post was flagged… :man_facepalming:t2:
English is not allowed?

I’d venture to guess it’s because it was perceived bad form/rude/arrogant to request others to accommodate you or do work for you. In this case, the poster donated their contribution and shared content they created for themselves, out of sheer generosity; asking them to do extra work translating into less familiar language just to save a click is not appropriate.

I’m sure you said it in a half-joking way, but these subtleties don’t express well in text and may be lost on folks from different cultures.

There are four distinct things.

  • not allowed
  • allowed
  • not required
  • required

On this forum English is allowed and not required. There are plenty of posts in a variety of languages.

This is irrelevant however, because the post was in fact in English. The linked content wasn’t.

Yeah, I don’t realy care, but I didn’t made the suggestion like a joke or something; I was thinking his site whould be more user friendly/general accepted if it’s in the most common language. Maybe the emoji was misleading. Anyway… don’t realy care.

Agree, seems a bit harsh to flag your post, although personally I didn’t see the need to have that page translated into English.
There is always someone who gets offended, though, I suppose… :man_shrugging:t2:

Incidentally, is there any sort of recourse method if you disagree that a post should be hidden? Who is the final arbiter, and whom should grievances or appeals be directed to?
I’m assuming it would be you, @Alexey ?

When the users flag the posts, moderators are notified, but if the notifier has high enough trust level - post is hidden immediately until moderators look at it.

Thank you, @arrogantrabbit
I was more interested in this specific forum’s SOPs
Who is the Point of Contact to “argue your case” if you think a post has been unfairly flagged/hidden/removed and what is the process to escalate if you disagree with the moderator (if such a process exists)?

I don’t understand the flagging too.

But be sure, I will translate the website to English next week. It makes the site more accessible for everyone.

It is just in German, because it was a quick 30 min job. The graphics are English too, because the site was planned in English from the beginning

I think the user can contact moderators by replying to the DM that is sent to them.

I don’t think it does, moderator is god. On the other hand, it’s not a criminal court, it’s just a user forum

If I was treated unfairly on any of the forums I would not bother appealing or even arguing, I would just stop participating. So there is an incentive for moderators to keep things fair.

Yes, it’s exist. The easiest way is to edit your own post and remove the offending parts, it would be un-hided back automatically.
The other way is to appeal to any of admins/moderators (About - Storj Community Forum (official)): you may always click the respond on the flagged post (you would still be able to see it) and select how do you want to respond, you need to use a “+ Reply as linked topic”

After that you may select one of admins/mods (or all) as an auditory. You may even made it public, if you wish.
We not always can return a post to the initial state without editing, but it’s still possible.
