Did you use that case? Can’t recommend it I was starting with that but more than one hdd is a pain in the A with that case. Very difficult to manage, just imagine you have after couple of years disk failure. The thing is very tiny and complicated to operate or maintain the hdd inside
You might think about power for hdds had a similar motherboard with dc input. But was powering only 2 hdds
Why it is a pain? Do you mean Fractal Cube? I didn’t used it yet. I had another case, bought last year, that can take 2 HDDs. The holes are missplaced in it, I can only use 2 per drive, and I put zip ties. That case it’s a disaster (Kolink I believe?). But Fractal seems OK at first view.
Yeah, installing more than 2 drives with the N100DC mobo seems imposible, even though the manual sais you can.
You have only one power header with 2 connectors for SATA drives.
I don’t know how to power the other 2. The only thing I can think would be the USB 3 header, but I don’t know if it gives you 12 and 5V, or if there are addapters from that to SATA power connector.
There exist sata power splitters.
The mobo offers 1 power header and a splitter cable for 2 drives. I don’t believe that it safe to split those 2 connectors more.
I looked around the specs and wiki; for an HDD you need +5V and +12V and like 10W of power.
The USB 3 header gives you only 5V and 4.5W.
The chassis fan header gives you 12V. I don’t know how could you get the power and voltage for an HDD other than the dedicated SATA header.
I found a board on Amazon with USB 3 and SATA power outputs from a USB 3 header, but I don’t believe it can power a 3.5" HDD. Maybe works only with SSDs.
Be careful. Startup power consumption is much higher for modern HDDs.
Do you guys know some miniITX mobos with very low power CPU and ATX PSU input? Something <15W, like Asrock N100 that draws 7W?

- At least 2 PCIe x16 slots
- At least 3 M.2 slots
- Can plug in at least 8 SATA drives
- Has to have built-in 10G networking
- Support for at least 128GB of RAM
…and also…
- Must be fanless
- Can draw no more than 5w under load
- Has to be able to fit in a Mini-ITX case
- Not willing to pay more than $100

Yeah but depends how many the board supports. When its DC powered, had similar thing. Doesnt boot with more then two drives.
Yes the kolink, its a pain. Also plan in the future, what are you going to do when your HDD is slowly dying. How will you connect spare HDD?
Yeah it’s been surprising how fast they’ve cranked out the updates! I think three major ones since the start of Feb? A lot of community members didn’t think they’d fix issues that fast… but they’re outpacing the JetKVM folks.

It’s a KVM from china that’s dirt cheap. It’s almost to be expected, that it’s filled with Malware. I put all hardware I get from china in it’s own vLAN for a week to see what kind of traffic it gets.
Everything made in China is backdoored. It’s the official non-written state policie.
Even if it uses open source software, almost certain it has some custom hardware wholes.
So it’s like the american ones but the door has another colour😬
