What happens when I lock my most important personal files for let’s say the next 60 years. Is pricing for that storage then also somehow frozen? Or can STORJ potentially increase prices by >100 times and I will be forced to pay whatever price is valid at a time until the 60 years are over?
I do not think that the price will be fixed for locked objects, it’s not an analogue of a glacier level storage on the tape. However, I do not know for sure, so do not count on me. But I think if the price for storage would be raised, you likely will pay more, because you still store your data, and it’s accounted hourly.
From the article I understand that Object Lock is simply a feature for object management, and does not really have any impact on the actual storage of the file. Therefore, I believe that the price will be the same rate as for any standard data and paid on a monthly basis.
If someone decides to stop paying before the lock period is over, Storj would most likely be able to delete the file as if it were any other standard file.
How and when Storj manages the deletion of these cases, I have no idea, there probably is a grace period where your data is still kept after you stop paying, but after this grace period if the account balance is not paid, the data is deleted from the network, regardless of if it is object locked or not.
