After rebooting my pc (after stopping the storj services). one node failed to start - Error 1067: the process terminated unexpectedly. I tried the recommended deleting the cash-trusted.json (can remember the correct name) and running a sfc disk (no error).
What to try next?

check where the folder with the identity is, the node can’t find it, maybe the disk letter has changed?
The disk letter has not changed. This is node 2 of a 4 node setup using multinode tool. All the other nodes are working fine. I tried using the multinode tool to repair the node data but it still fails with identity not found.
Z:\Identity\identity.cert is a text file. So it should be easy to check if it exists and is not damaged. Did you?

Well, then it wasn’t at the time node attempted to reach it. What is Z? Mountable filesystem? Was it mounted at node start? Does the service user has permissions to read it?
the Z drive is a 12TB disk that was added to the PC for storage. The node was added to the drive in Sep 2024 and was working fine until the reboot a few days ago. This is Windows 11. I don’t think it is a mountable file system but I’m not sure as I would think it would normally just be assigned the next available drive letter. So I don’t know. It only has 800GB of Storj files so I’m ready to give up as I’m stumped.
If you start node now - does it start?
If so, you have a race at boot between node starting and disk mounting.
If not - post the new log because now the issue would not be missing identity file as you have validated above that file is present.
Either it’s absent or you provided a wrong path in your config.yaml or the storagenode service doesn’t have permissions to read it.
For the permissions issue I would like to suggest to update the owner of all node’s folders to SYSTEM, you should do it recursively, you also need to provide it write, read, delete permissions to be operational.
this is from the config.yaml file:

I also updated the folder (and subfolders all thought there are none) owner to system.

Found it. The path was wrong. I moved the identify folder to immediately below the Z: entry. It now works.
The original entry only had part of the path.
