I have recently setup a storj node, and I have made sure to keep it online always, but today I got an email that my node is offline on US satellite, I have checked that it has been last pinged 42 minutes ago on US Satellite, and from that time till now my internet hasn’t gone down so my my node has been on, but still my online score on Us satellite went down
does anyone know why this could happens? I made sure that my node was up and running all time
You can use these scripts to check when your node was not available for the satellites and then you can check your firewall/router/node logs on the same time to figure out why the connection from the satellite was blocked.
Just ran it, it showed me the following for the US Satellite:
’’’
{
“id”: “12EayRS2V1kEsWESU9QMRseFhdxYxKicsiFmxrsLZHeLUtdps3S”,
“auditHistory”: [
{
“windowStart”: “2025-12-29T00:00:00Z”,
“totalCount”: 19,
“onlineCount”: 14
}
]
}
’’’
That the satellite is tried to contact your node at 2025-12-29T00:00:00Z, but the node was able to answer only on 14 audit requests from 19.
Now you need to search in your firewall/router/node’s logs on that time to try to figure out, why the contact from the satellite was blocked.
Each missing audit meaning that your node was offline on that time, thus your online score will drop (it’s calculated over 30 days window).
Your node should be online for the next 30 days since each downtime to fully recover the online score.
More like a router. If you have something like “DDoS protection” or “Smart security” - please, disable them, they doesn’t work on consumer routers properly.
My routers don’t have any features like that, and I checked the logs and nothing significant happened around the time which my node apparently wasn’t connected
I did do some research and I think it is indeed ISP related issue, the ISP here sometimes, rarely shuts down the internet temporarily at late night for maintenance, that I think is the reason
I don’t know see how it could be caused by something else, logs don’t show anything interesting around that time
Yep I already checked them, there wasn’t any problem at all
I even accessed the logs, nothing happened with the router when supposedly my node was offline
I potentially found the problem, there was an option of automatic maintenance enabled by default on my router such that between 2:30am to 5:30am if the internet traffic is less than 3Kbps, it will do a maintenance, and at that range is when the node was apparently offline.
I just turned it off, If the online percentage doesn’t go down again, that means the issue is then fixed
Just checked it all, pretty much it passed all audits excluding the one 14 out of 19 counts on 29th, for the rest of em they were all had total counts = audit count
