Storagenode Payout Update: August Prepayments and July 2026 Status

Hello everyone,

We want to give you an update on the current situation with storagenode payouts.

Prepayment for August: To avoid leaving operators without any compensation as we progress through the filings, we have made a business decision to prepay for August. We have to ensure that we strictly adhere to the court policies and procedures, we believe it will be satisfactory to the storagenodes. At the end of August, we’ll reconcile these prepayments against actual usage and correct for any over/ or underpayments.

July payout is currently on hold. Due to the legal process of Chapter 11, we are not permitted to pay out storagenodes for the period before July 26, until a decision has been reached by the bankruptcy court. We know this is frustrating, and we’re working to resolve it as quickly as possible, within the regulations of the court process.

Nodes that left the network will need to be excluded, as they are deemed past creditors. This affects only a very small number of nodes. If your node left the network in the past few days, it will not be able to receive a prepayment. The July payout remains part of the pre-petition creditors and can only be released upon instructions of the bankruptcy court.

Dashboard display. Prepayments are a new mechanism for the dashboard, and we’re going to find out how it handles and displays this data. If your numbers look off in the coming weeks, this is likely why.

Next steps. We have a court hearing scheduled for August 25, where we may get instructions about pre July 26 payments, although typically pre-petition payment decisions take quite some time. Therefore, we will continue our prepayment for September onwards, each month, to ensure payments are flowing to active storagenodes. We’ll share an update as soon as we know more.

Thank you for your patience and continued support as we work through this.

How exactly do you calculate how much each node should get as a prepayment? Is it equal to the amount of money the node earned in July? Will the payment for July 26–31 be included in this prepayment, or is it also on hold?

We are using the end of July results to estimate August results. That estimation will be off to some extend. The plan is to correct that with the next payout.

Entire July is on hold.

How about july 1-26? In my opinion SNOs would have to claim their payments individually by court. Or will storj do this on behalf of SNOs?

I am not sure. I would expect more information about that after August 25

Why are you doing this when money is already tight? )
Previously, there was a limit on the minimum payout amount, as far as I remember.

This is called replace by fee. Again Ethereum is really annoying. It can hande end users like you and me just fine. We send a transaction and it does its job. The moment you write a script and try to automate it you will get surprising results. You will run into several bugs and there is no good solution. I did this some time ago. Send 100 transaction, wait a moment, expect that all 100 transaction should be confirmed but the result might be 99 transaction unconfirmed because the nonce is too high and one got missing. How in the world can a node just drop a transaction that should have local priority? It gets even better. If you try to counter that you realize there are multiple bugs that randomly drop transactions here and there. Its so annoying. You can easily get trapped and one way out of it is send money to yourself to close the nonce gap and let everything behind it clear.

Anyway as an enduser you will hopefully never have to deal with these bugs.

@littleskunk
How exactly do you calculate the amount of tokens that should be sent to each node?

For example, let’s say a node earned $10. You start the payout run when STORJUSDT is at 0.047 (like this morning), so the node should receive 212.76 tokens.

But what if the node’s address is at the very end of the list, and the payment is sent 16 hours later than the first node, when the price has dropped to 0.042?

Will this node receive 10 / 0.047 = 212.76 tokens, or 10 / 0.042 = 238.09 tokens?

And what if the node opted for payouts via zkSync Era? How do you calculate the rate in that case?

August payment received. Seems like 20% payment reduction already built in although not yet announced.

If the script hasn’t changed it should use the conversion rate at the time the transaction gets broadcasted.

Should be the same.

I wish I could check that. I am part of the $0 payout rate group which means I don’t have a point of reference right now. I will try to get an answer on that. It might be US1 GC that was not running for a full month and now shifts our expectation a bit.

I received a payment for a full month.

I hope this is a good sign for the continuation of the program.

Still no payment in zkSync Era. Should we expect the payment tomorrow, or not until Monday? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Perhaps the script is failed again, the last TX on zkSync was 6 hours ago. It should have retries, need to check later. It’s possible that someone will check it when wake up.

Could you please give me your NodeID?

At the moment my ZKsync Era payout has not arrived, one of the NodeIDs:
1Tett4ogxTZCEN1No7e8VHrKEkatzWWQ2CAC7YKHzrCMjgNCZo

I see that the script went straight from L1 to L2 around midnight, performed 39 transactions, and then stopped. It still appears that the L2 wallet didn’t receive a top-up from L1, as there are a lot of funds in L1 and very little in L2.

Yes, perhaps the script is stopped. Maybe someone would resume it, but there are weekends, so, perhaps on 2026-08-16T17:00:00Z

Same on my side, didn’t receive anything yet and normally get monthly (running 3 nodes ao threshold always reaching).
Bit unfortunate as the coin prize is dumping

Hello @tankmann,
Welcome back!

How? You will receive more STORJ tokens.

Thanks for the swift reply. I have never been off just didn’t post a lot

My biggest node is still doing the automatic transfer to hashstore I believe… Been quite busy, had to restart once in-between but not sure how / where to see how far it is.

Edit: I got the payment, looked up the wrong wallet. Stupid me.
