Is there some reason why you can’t just go ahead and include STORJ in this Index? You do not need to ask Storj Labs for permission to do so.

It looks like this is tracking fees that are derived from smart contracts of some kind. Storj doesn’t use that model. We’re more traditional in that you pay for Storj with FIAT or the Storj token (Valued in FIAT with a percentage incentive) and Nodes are paid with Storj token. There is no cut of the transactions going back to Storj if you do something with the token or anything of that sort.

Yes, we are trying to understand the payment mechanism for Storj network services and if there is on-chain data that represents demand paid to the network.

Yes, we are trying to understand the payment mechanism for Storj network services and if there is on-chain data that represents demand paid to the network.

There is no on-chain data. The data usage is tracked by the ‘satellite’ service, which is the metadata server. The payment depends on the operator of the satellites. The current live satellites (us,eu,ap) are operated by StorjLabs and the payments (calculated based on data usage in USD) are paid in either Storj ERC-20 tokens on Ethereum or ZkSync chain. (STORJ amount is calculated from the USD value based on the current value).
