Perhaps the Community can finally take the lead in this process, using this proposal? Not just talk, but take action?
I like what you’ve been saying in this regard Alexey, but until there is something solved how can there be new leadership? You’re about to be lacking contracted income, start an organizational charter in the prospect of ownership on this forum.
I think you said, “take action”
Seriously, people would follow. It’s not likely to succeed, but there’s no disrespect in trying, stay level headed.
2 cents,
Julio
I’m not sure if I’m allowed to participate, so I hope the Community gets a part of Storj, or better yet, gets a chance to participate in decision making.
I guess there is still a lot of uncertainty. Like how, when, IRS, regulation, future obligation, court approval. Will we own a share of Valdi too?
I don’t know. I think that details should be published accordingly the plan
If this works, we’ll finally be able to change some annoying things and make things right.
I’m referring to all the suggestions you’ve made over the years.
Storj needs to hire and pay for a marketing team. You guys are not serious if you’re waiting for the community of holders and sno’s to market for you.
Hire an Asian guy, Chinese maybe or Korean… they are good at it.
You demanded to fire the marketing team a few days ago. Sorry we can’t keep up with these conflicting demands.
If they already have a marketing team, then clearly they aren’t doing anything effective to improve visibility thus they should be fired/replaced. You can see that from the consistently low engagement on their X account, Storj Forum, and YouTube.
At that point, the logical solution is to replace the current team with an actual marketing team that knows how to increase reach and engagement.
This really isn’t complicated logic to follow from my posts, but apparently it was difficult for you to understand.
Yes they have all been fired as you requested yet again.
Current team is a handfull of people mostly developers. Replacing them with a marketing team doesn’t make sense.
I don’t know if you’re dense or trolling but you can’t have dev team also do marketing. That is like asking a taxi driver to do brain surgery. No one would recommend they fire dev team to replace with marketing team. They need a marketing team that does marketing things along side their dev team that manages the software.
Primary focus of PR/Marketing Team:
Increase X impressions
Increase YouTube views/subscribers
Generate X media placements/month
Generate X podcast
Increase website traffic
Increase Storj community participation
There is no DEV involved, it’s a separate team. No one is asking to fire their Dev team.
How much would it cost them? About 3k to 10k per month, lets say that marketing brought about 1M in sales through new customers per quarter. That creates real economic activity around the token/ecosystem. They would have 2 problems fixed at the same time.
Just too many demands to keep up with that nonsense. Thats all.
Frist of all you are making demands not recommendations. They get phrased differently.
And second your latest demans was to replace the current team with marketing. You might have a wrong understanding of what the current team is. Thats why I am telling you its mostly a handful of developers that are left.
Anyway good to see that you don’t want the remaining developers replaced with marketing. At least we agree on that point.
Thats a bit unrealistic to say at best.
This kind of action works well if you already have sort of stable business that has proven to scale on small customers (which is whom this will predominantly attract), and you have spare money that you cannot spend on seeking opportunities for bigger contracts anymore. Storj does not seem to have a business that can scale on small customers yet.
Given the timeframes posted and the general feeling I’m getting out of Storj’s communication, we’re more in a territory of seeking an angel investor or a large established company for whom Storj’s technology has value. Like, I guess, a large hosting company wanting an efficient internal S3 setup (maybe because their own attempts failed
), or a media publisher wanting to own a CDN.
I do hope the latter path was investigated already, but we’ve seen little indications of that so far. And would be the type of valuable marketing for the current situation.
I saw many good suggestions here on the forum, what Storj should do regarding marketing and sales, I assumed that these Community members knows better, how it should be implemented. I read the current proposal like an offer a leadership position for whom will have more votes.
So, my idea - we need to vote for these Community members to make them lead the marketing/sales teams and do better than a previous marketing/sales did.
I would simply hire the dev who designed hashstore… ![]()
I kinda expect the basic reorganization to take at least 6 months (to deal with old debts)… before new-STORJ can think of spending on marketing. Just have to keep the lights on for now… ![]()
There are many great ideas in Storj’s technology, let’s not single out just the most recent one. For example, pulling off redundancy codes across WAN is one of these killer moves. Or the encryption scheme. Or the choice-of-N optimization. Or bloom filters. And on top of all of that, not losing data for a decade is also sort of a good thing.
I we became “Backblaze B2 CE” (Community Edition) I’d be OK with that. They seem to have the right mindset to run tech like Storj (at least more than a place like Wasabi).
They could integrate their drive-health telemetry code into the nodes, and roll our HDD data into their Drive Stats! And since they’ve partnered with 45Drives for a long time… 45Drives could even offer a 45HomeLab model with B2-CE/Storj-tech preinstalled.
I’m not demanding anything, I am pointing out that the main issue with STORJ as a whole is low visibility. I just don’t get how your X has like 80 views per post when you guys have a functioning product and even a token on major exchanges. Even my meme account gets 2k-4k views per post. Maybe just not trying I don’t know.
