I’m moving to Bangkok and want to know what to expect regarding Storj traffic in Asia.
Are there any SNOs here running nodes in Thailand or nearby? I’m interested to know if the traffic (Ingress/Egress) is healthy and how large your nodes typically get in this region.
One last thing: I have a significant number of HDDs. Physically moving them to Bangkok worries me (customs, damage, downtime). I am considering liquidating the setup instead. Is there any permitted way to transfer/sell established nodes to another operator?
Most paying customers are in the US… but I’m sure your nodes would still work fine: just grow slower. (But that’s a guess: I have no experience with nodes in Asia)
I don’t see why selling a node wouldn’t work: but obviously the original owner could keep the nodeID and fire it up after the sale. It would be a dick move: and I don’t know how the network would handle hearing from two nodes with the same ID and different payout addresses? I think payouts are based on the last payout address the satellites hear about at the end of the month? But you’ve been active in this forum for long enough I’m sure any buyer would trust you.
And I guess if you had 10TB nodes or something sending it over the Internet could take so long it may at least be suspended. Perhaps better to sell the HDD+node together and just ship it? Or even better: find a local buyer…
That’s not a problem. You can start the transfer while the node is still running. Once that’s done, you just need to do a final sync with the node stopped (it takes very little time now that they are all hashstore nodes).
Probably just an hour with stopped node on entire process
Stupid first owner move. Node is going to disq in a second. Nobody wins
Sad enough that it is mostly only customers from the USA. Globally, nothing to report. The interest is not big enough, in my opinion. Where is Germany? I don’t see any German customers. It’s not that bad either. German companies are leaving for abroad anyway.
