Is it normal to have such a low success rate for a new storagenode?

Low success rates can happen, but yours seems extremely low. Could you say a little more about the hardware you are using. Specifically the HDD and how it is connected, as well as your internet speeds and (rough) location?
Looks like the issue was related to the storage backend (NFS)
Since I moved to iSCSI the rate increased to ~35%
