The PR (`c0a7c7e`) it look like a ticking bomb to me

Hi, I just saw this PR satellite/attribution: remove BackfillPlacementBatch · storj/storj@c0a7c7e · GitHub.

Am I reading this correctly:

  • you add a custom command to run batch backfill on production
  • you run the command
  • then you remove the command?

The problem is: how does 3rd satellite operator know about any of this, this should be done in migration, if the data was too great for database to handle, maybe in a small batch loop and double check after the loop end to ensure it correctness?

If I don’t know about these practice when operating satellite - It would be terrifying :exploding_head:.

BUT, thank you for this software and for releasing it as opensource :slight_smile:.

I guess that mistake is on me. In the past we have published the changelog here in the forum. It was tagged and I believe you can subsribe to that tag to get a notification every time a new version gets posted. I just haven’t done it for the last 2 releases. I might not find time for it this week but I promise I am going to fix that.

Don’t take it on yourself, but won’t comment further for now, I think you have better thing todo atm.
