Its definitely not you 
Are you using DDNS or IP in your Windows GUI setup of the node ?
What router model do you use?
I’ve seen similar problems when the router it self is to weak to properly work on heavy loads. Please note that this does not mean huge data transfer rate, hundreds or thousands small queries with realatively small data transfer also can be a huge load for routers cpu.
