Uploading data is not using full uploadcapacity of my internetconnection

i have two question about the mechanics of uplink.

1.) is uplink splitting data into 30 pieces first, or encrypting first?

2.) and does uplink put small files into an archive before they get encrypeted/split?
If no: that would explain only 500kbytes/s upload, instead of 30mb/s as my connection offers. I use a macbook late 2008 model with ubuntu 20.04.

Encryption first and reed solomon last. That way the satellite can repair the data without having to decrypt it.

BTW it is more then 30 pieces.

Nope but Duplicati does that. You might want to use Duplicati instead of uplink.
