Usedserialsdb error: disk I/O error: The device is not ready

Hi, I checked my node this morning and was getting this error
2020-05-31T09:22:44.470-0500 ERROR piecestore download failed {“Piece ID”: “GVVCA5ACBCLJ7R5EPJCTO7KKBLSYKTXTL6A2GXZJRVVQQ3A7FJHA”, “Satellite ID”: “12EayRS2V1kEsWESU9QMRseFhdxYxKicsiFmxrsLZHeLUtdps3S”, “Action”: “GET_AUDIT”, “error”: “usedserialsdb error: disk I/O error: The device is not ready.”, “errorVerbose”: “usedserialsdb error: disk I/O error: The device is not ready.\n\tstorj.io/storj/storagenode/storagenodedb.(*usedSerialsDB).Add:35\n\tstorj.io/storj/storagenode/piecestore.(*Endpoint).verifyOrderLimit:76\n\tstorj.io/storj/storagenode/piecestore.(*Endpoint).Download:459\n\tstorj.io/common/pb.DRPCPiecestoreDescription.Method.func2:1004\n\tstorj.io/drpc/drpcmux.(*Mux).HandleRPC:107\n\tstorj.io/common/rpc/rpctracing.(*Handler).HandleRPC:56\n\tstorj.io/drpc/drpcserver.(*Server).handleRPC:111\n\tstorj.io/drpc/drpcserver.(*Server).ServeOne:62\n\tstorj.io/drpc/drpcserver.(*Server).Serve.func2:99\n\tstorj.io/drpc/drpcctx.(*Tracker).track:51”}

I just restarted my computer and everything is back going good what could have caused this?

I also got a notification saying my node is suspended on 3 satellite’s, I have checked and am now getting successful audits on them is there anything I need to do or after I pass enough good audit checks the suspension go’s away??

How’s your disk connected? USB, network or SATA?

SATA. It looks like it all happened in the middle of the night, only thing I could think of was it could have been a power drop or something idk.

I would recommend using another SATA port to avoid any future occurrence of audit failures. download failed for GET_AUDIT is not a good sign. Audit for a piece is tried 3 more times if its failed the first time but 4 failures marks that audit as failed.

Is there anything I need to do for the suspension? Or just give it some time now.

Make sure you don’t fail audits and after few successful audits your node will get out of suspension mode.
Also this should have been a separate topic under troubleshooting.

The device is not ready’ error message may occur due to reasons such as External storage device already in use, malware attacks, and if there’s a serious hardware failure due to corrupt USB controller drivers.

The common manual solution to fix this problem is run hardware and device troubleshooter, Uninstall USB controller drivers, fixing root hub Run Chkdsk command to check if your device is causing this error. This utility solves the file system errors with the device and repairs corrupt. For more information, you can read this article: stellarinfo.com/blog/device-is-not-ready-error/
