UserTesting survey requires mic and screen access

Just got my first Storj UserTesting survey today. Was happy about this - until I had to install their browser extension to continue.

The extension requires access to my mic and screen and wouldn’t let me continue without a microphone plugged in.

This is a totally unnecessary breach of privacy. I WILL NOT answer any surveys that demand access to my screen and my mic.

Please change to a survey platform that doesn’t require this!

It requires these because that’s how tests are conducted: the whole point is to watch your behavior on screen, while you give live comments on what you think, what feels odd, what’s great and so on…

I would very much prefer giving my comments in writing. This feels very intrusive.

It sounds like a great reason to choose not to take the survey. I’m not sure what the point of this post is though?

He pointed that out quite clearly:

Just amused, I guess.

“Will you get me some apples at the store?”

Expected answer: Yes or No

Actual answer:

“Not only will I not get you apples, I want to get you pears. You should have asked me for pears. Let’s discuss it on a public forum!”
