Is it possible to zip the files in my bucket up into 1 zip file for easy download?
If so how?
Doesn’t Storj spray pieces of your files all over the Internet, as a feature? If so they aren’t all in one place to make a zip from.
yes but was thinking there might be a way to zip the files up to make it easier to download and to cut the cost of downloading them. When you have over 200k files that could = BIG BUCKS to download.
So… first of all, why would storj implement a feature to make them less money?
Second, you are asking for a service to download files from nodes and zip them for you. It will be more expensive than just downloading them, not less.
Third, if you want to save bandwidth — upload data already compressed.
Hello @thereverendd ,
Welcome back!
Yes, you can download a bucket: open the Storj Console (web UI), navigate to Buckets, click three dots, select Download bucket.
It supports two formats - a zip archive (but it’s limited to 1,000 objects) and tar.gz (there is no limits).
It also works for prefixes inside the bucket.
