Automating the Sale of STORJ – Is It Worth It?

If fiat complexity is the problem, it’s still unclear why stablecoins are “out of discussion,"; they address the same payment issues without forcing customers or vendors to absorb volatility.

Choice of STORJ is a policy choice, not a technical constraint. That’s fine, but let’s call it that, instead of presenting it as “we have to” or “there is no alternative,” when there clearly is

The magic term is payout automation.
It intends to reduce manual work. I would be happy to have my payout reduced by a small fee to get rid of the crypto currency circus every month.

Maybe for the company, certainly not for the SNO bearing even the risk not receiving what he is expected to receive. Or do you think it is optimal that I cannot sell STORJ token for an hour now due to liquidty reasons? And every second Trump could announce new tariffs or the annexation of Greenland and the price could plummet?

For the SNO choice of how to get paid would be optimal. Here is an example what choice for SNOs could look like:

Currently there is no options for payouts except STORJ tokens.

There is even more on that. Storj is not the only company that has to issue (small) payments to worldwide vendors/suppliers/freelancers.
Other companies do not use their own cryptocurrencies or tokens but achieve the same task. So it is not a matter of the STORJ token at all. At least not today. In 2014 the world was certainly different.

Skill issue? :winking_face_with_tongue: Send payouts to a CDC address, couple clicks to sell, couple clicks to pour cash into one of their CCs.

You can be buying stuff off Amazon 5 minutes after your payout lands!

I can only repeat, I’m not aware of any plans to provide options for payouts except STORJ tokens via Ethereum or zkSync Era.

Ok then please don’t say it is optimal. It is not. Or do you think it is

that I cannot sell STORJ tokens for over an hour now and the price is fluctuating?

No, crypto craziness and terrible decision to pay out STORJ tokens.

And I can only repeat that it is bad. Very bad. At least for some SNOs. I know you don’t make the decision. But you can pass this sentiments and the suggestions made to the person whose job it is to evaluate the situation and eventually make a decision. At the very least minimum the company should provide valid reasons and demo the solutions of the companies provided.

Fun fact: Payouts.com does even offer STORJ as crypto payout method: Global Crypto Payouts | Payouts.com

Trolley.com say the can make payments to 210 countries/territories. And they provide an API and SDK.

However, it’s optimal for many, including Storj, otherwise there would be other options.

Of course I did that. Here is the answer:

If that change, there will be an announcement.

They even have a little tour anybody can check out by entering an email address: https://trolley.com/pay/?nab=1
And for basic functions it seems to be only $49,- per month?

Other companies are using other options.

Thank you. But the anwer still quotes Storj DCS

Also, the STORJ tokens you earn for sharing your hard drive and bandwidth can be used to pay for our Storj DCS service to store your files in our decentralized end-to-end encrypted S3 compatible cloud storage.

So it seems dated and the availble solutions might have changed. If you could forward the provided links of the suggested solutions so that the person in charge tries them out, that would be a start.

Finally at least I was able to sell the STORJ a couple of minutes ago… :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I think just a payout provider isn’t enough; mandatory papework is also required, compliant with all regulations in all 124 countries. It seems not everyone fully understands how complex this is. Even simple W8-BEN got so many frictions..
Perhaps there are other providers that can do this for you, like Deel or similar, but then all SNOs must be contractors or employees, there are mandatory rules governing this x124, and so on, plus additional fees. All of this could easily lead to payouts being reduced by up to 50%; is that really what you want?

This is my experience with this type of work, but I don’t think it’s any different for Storj.
I’ve shared this with the team, though.

This is exactly what these companies do for you. It is called recipient-management or vendor management:

Again, replace STORJ with a USD-denominated stablecoin and the entire article still applies. It mixes payment logistics with currency choice, and that’s where the argument falls apart.

There are like 5000 SNO that all agreed to be SNO based on the present T&C, including to be payed in Storj token. On this forum we are very few active, and like 10-20 SNO that advocate for changing the payment method. We should not forget about the rest and not speak for everyone else. Maybe the majority are OK with the current way and dosen’t want any change.
I, at least, don’t want fiat payments. I would like stable coins, if that was an option. But between fiat and Storj token, I will always prefer the token, and not because I hold some.

I’m curios to know why. Why do you prefer more complex, fragile, and volatile solution?

We don’t know that. Maybe they are agressively nodding now.

I’m also fine with STORJ payouts. I understand they’re still working hard to reach profitability and that using treasury tokens is helping keep the lights on - so it seems like a good business decision. It’s easy enough to swap/sell them in a couple minutes

I’d also be OK if payouts change one day - but they shouldn’t change anything until they’re in-the-black.

No, offering additional ways is at least what I am advocating for.

If you are happy with being paid in STORJ that is totally fine with me.

https://payouts.com/vendor-portal/

  • Transform complex document collection into automated workflows. The system automatically requests, validates, and tracks required documents based on vendor type and location.
  • Give vendors the power to manage their own information while maintaining complete control.
  • Manage your entire vendor ecosystem from one powerful dashboard. Complete visibility and control over compliance, documents, and approvals – all in one place.

As I said:

I don’t know, how much your providers would charge, but I guess, not less than other which I used.
Would you agree on 50% payout cut?

Why should there be a 50% payout cut?
